It is Ashlee’s 20th birthday and the first order of business is to have some cake! Ashlee and her friends then get dressed to go out to dinner, and it is a surprise where she is going for her birthday. They arrive at Medieval Times, and her family is there. Ashlee said she has never been there before and it is totally hilarious. Her band then arrives with presents, and they are all adult gifts. The crew then heads in to watch the show, and totally have a good time. Later on, Ashlee gets her hair cut – short. Ashlee says she wants to do something different and out of the norm. Ashlee says change is good. Ashlee’s mother then arrives and sees Ashlee new hair. She is stunned, and says she thinks the label and her father are going to have a fit. Ashlee tells us she wants to make decisions on her own and cutting her hair is a part of finding herself. Ashlee says she likes her hair and it is fun. Ashlee and her friends then go to try out Pilates. Ashlee says halfway through everything was hurting but it felt good. Ashlee says it was a really positive experience overall, but she would like to try it again. Ashlee and her friend Lauren then go to get a bit to each. When they head home they watch a reel on Joseph Kahn. Ashlee and Stephanie go over what her new music video will be like; Joseph Kahn will be the director.

Later on they are ready to shoot the “La La” video. Ashlee tells us Lauren and Stephanie will also be in the video with her. She then meets Joseph, and Ashlee says she is excited to work with him because he has done a lot of cool videos. Ashlee is getting her makeup done, and her mom and her talk about whether she should wear extensions or not. Ashlee says her hair is an expression of who she is, and Ashlee’s mom tells her she is going to let her make her own decision. They then start to shoot the video. Ashlee says the video is basically her friends getting into trouble like on a Saturday. Ashlee is then heading to the next filming location and says she is really nervous she is going to look like a teenager in the video.

It was then off, later in the week, to do a photo shoot for Entertainment Weekly. Ashlee says it felt really positive after the SNL drama, to be chosen as a break out star by Entertainment Weekly. Plus she says, she really respects Entertainment Weekly. After the photo shoot is over Ashlee says she is happy with the final look of everything. She says hopefully being chosen by Entertainment Weekly as a break out artist, is a sign of good things to come.
